A little mystery, a little coffee, and The Dude

The Recipe

  • 2 parts Vodka
  • 1 part Coffee Liqueur
  • 1 part milk if it’s a White Russian

Pour Vodka and Coffee Liqueur into a glass filled with ice. Stir well and serve.

To make a White Russian, after stirring float 1 part milk of your choice on top before serving.

Note: I like to use Almond Milk because it will not curdle if you’ve used too much Vodka and it still adds the creaminess that you’re looking for.

The White Russian and its counterpart, the Black Russian are interesting cocktails both to make and to consume. They lightly tread the edge between sophisticated and common, and they seem to be either hated or loved by those who take the time to notice them.

The Experience

When you make or drink one of these cocktails, there is a sense of benign mystery. A feeling that there is just a little more to them than meets the eye, but in a way that invokes more head-scratching than fear. It’s like meeting someone in a train station and knowing that they are mildly famous, but not being able to…
