I was taught ITA in first grade. I remember learning to read using those letters and a special set of library books. We transitioned out if it by 2nd grade. Not sure if the program ended or if they decided it was only useful for 1st grade. Not sure if it helped or not. My parents couldn't read those books (or at least not very well) so I had to learn to read them myself. If nothing else, I became a self-sufficient and self-motivated reader. Not sure that was the intended effect, but thats what happened. I still have at least one of those books and I can still read it. Thanks for the interesting read.
