SERIOUS WORDLE
The Spice of Life
Variety is how we become better
I am committed to writing every day with Wordle as a prompt. I try to be humorous, or at least light-hearted. Today I read the article by James Finn about the senseless killing of a California shop owner, Lauri Carleton, because she was hanging up a pride flag outside her own shop. I can’t get that out of my mind so maybe a little keyboard therapy will help me process it.
I am committed to living and raising my daughter in the way that I was raised. You try different foods, visit different places, and associate with people who are different from you. Different can mean anything from where they live, to what deity they believe in, to the color of their skin, to their favorite sports team.
My mom used to say “Variety is the Spice of Life”. I’m not sure where she heard it, but it was a fun way to say that you learn different things when you do something different and your life will be richer and more satisfying for it. We didn’t have a lot of money to travel, but road trips to different towns and a commitment to eating in places that weren’t McDonalds were enough to show me that there was more to the world than my small town places and ideas.
For our society to not decay into singularity of thought and to not become as tasteless as stale…
