Wordle tries to screw with us today with a difficult one. Read on to know the answer.

In 1997, The Verve, a band from England released “Bittersweet Symphony”. It’s probably the only song of theirs that you’ve ever heard of. You’ll recognize it from English soccer and probably several other sports. It’s got an anthem feel, and the most recognizable part of the song was in a legal dispute for two decades.

Yes, from giving them both a listen, the Verve version is definitely like the Rolling Stones version. The Rolling Stones version was released 30 years prior, and The Verve had a contractual agreement to use it. The dispute was that they used “too much” of it.

I have inadvertently found myself writing a legal opinion piece and I am neither a lawyer nor do I have an actual opinion on the situation, so I am moving on.

I like “Bittersweet Symphony”. I remember liking it when it was released in 1997. I’m going to make a point to play it to my sophomore class this year. I like to play 80’s and 90’s music for them in an effort to expose them to something new. It makes a nice transition into class if it’s playing in the background and it can be a good conversation starter.
