Working to understand people who are different than you should be absolutely required for any politician in a national office. It could be as simple as a dinner at someone's house, or as complex as attending a religious ceremony, cultural parade, or other event put on by someone who cares about their own identity. Politicians forget that they should be working for the betterment of the entire country and not just of those who hold the same beliefs as them. The only real way to do that is to work on it. I would love to see such a dinner happen. It might help the Johnsons learn something about humanity.
